the only other bird I have with a ring neck is Mika the Alex. They both have the same attitude and can handle each others temperaments. I have heard of people with cockatiels with ring necks. Hmm that's an idea. I'd need a bigger cage to make room for the alex, but that's doable. Thanks for your rep...

cage mates for ringnecks?
ok so i'm dying to get another bird. The only problem is my husband wont let me do it even if it's only a budgie in a smaller cage cuz he doesn't want another cage. So I want to know if there are any birds who can live with ringnecks. His cage is good sized, the dimensions are 30"wide x 35"...

I don't breed and I 'm no where near an expert on parrots. Here's my 2 cents from what I've read about ringnecks and parrots in general so far: Parrots can be pretty territorial. The females of the ringnecks can be aggressive. That divider you had was just enough for each bird to have their spaces a...

I'd have to say.. turquoise! The darker colored kind. I love any kind of turquoise though. It was funny.. when I was looking at getting a ringneck, a turquoise was a bit pricy. I found Skye at a petstore and blue was my second favorite mutation so i brought him home and over the span of the next yea...

Skye is a male I think. I haven't ever had him DNA'd. He does the dance all the time. He opens his wings to that heart shape and strutts around and does the wood pecker thing and makes kissy sounds and stretches as far as he can from one side to the other. He also hops a bit. It's really cute. And m...

Skye and I welcome you here and can't wait to see pics. Wow! That's quite a collection of critters! I don't have a problem with bedtime blues. I'm lucky. I have a long ladder that goes from the bottom of Skye's cage (it's on a stand) to the floor. He will walk from wherever he happens to be in our a...

my ringie gets those flakes from time to time too. It's normal from what I can tell. if you're worried, the vet is always a good place to go. As you said, he's clearly connecting you holding him with him going back to his cage. Try to catch him, then hold him with out putting him back in his cage an...

Only one bird atm. Hopefully that will change. ;D His name is Skywalker. My husband and I are both Star Wars fans. Chocobo has a really good idea. Wrap it with some chicken wire. There are certain issues with the metals of outdoor fencing material.. some are toxic. I don't remember those though. There isn't really a right or wrong answer any of us can give you. Some say yes, clip, and some are very against it. That's just their opinion and I'm sure they have good reasons for deciding yes or no. You pick whichever you think is right based on your individual bird and situation. My ringy's win...

Skye was not tame when I first got him. He was hand-fed, but not hand- raised . There's a difference. Hand-fed, the babies are fed and put away. when babies are hand raised, the babies are fed, cuddled until they fall asleep, and then are put away and played with after they wake up from the first na...

Skye's silly antics...
Are male birds more talkative than the girls? Just in terms of the amount of natural birdy noises they make througout the day? Skye has been chattering and whistling and all sorts of cute sounds for past like.. 4 hours straight. He's been sitting out here on his play gym while my husband and I do st...

some birds never do learn to talk or imitate a single thing. Some are specialists in sound-effects. Some only talk a little bit. Some do it all. It's all just up to the bird. Don't stop trying though! Constant repetition. A couple ideas that may help: You could tape record yourself talking and play ...

Well.. the oldest one is only 7 months old. He's probably got closer to another 9-10 months to go before you see any actual black feathers. Have you had them DNA tested? My guy Skye has the dark-ish shadow, but females can have that too. The funny thing is, Skye does some behaviors that are 'female'...
