what options to get something other than green

Post by cindyringneck »

I have a green male, split to yellow -I only know that the parents were green female and yellow male. I'm considering breedinging, the had really wanted blue in there somewhere. 2 questions -
To get a mate for my bird, if I want something other than green babies, is my only option yellow (the split color)?
If i want blue babies do i need keep my green bird as a pet and start with a totally different breeding pair?

Your male should be able to breed Greens and Yellows when mated to ANY female. If he is also split to Blue (his parents could be split Blues), then mating him to a Blue hen or split Blue hen will produce you Blue chicks. Only way to find out is test breeding.

Sure way to breed Blue is to mate Blue on Blue since Blue is a recessive mutation.
