dark beak

Post by Gaby's mom »

Gaby is a 8week old indian ringneck. Gaby's beak is orange but has a definate black shade to it. Some sections of his beak almost look like it is bruised. this was the colour of his beak when purchased 3 weeks ago. is this normal?

It would help if we could possibly see a picture?

You'll find IRNs beak colours change through the growing up period, they will also flake some off as the beak hardens and matures. But a picture would help determine whether it could be a deficiency or something more.

Out of a clutch of four birds (blues) two have very dark blending into the beaks and two have none at all.

Its quite normal for varied amounts of colour in a young birds beak :D

If your bird is yellow / albino I would be a little worried. If not.. dont stress.
