Blue whithead/whitetail

I was looking at a site with some mutations and came across this and was wondering....what is the difference between this and a blue, the pic they have looks like a blue to me

I guess .. just from looking at the pic and knowing my kai, the blue's usually have the brighter blue heads and tail with the softer blue body's. This picture it seems the bird has a softer blue head (more white in the head) with a richer blue body. Thats just my guess.

But then it does say that this at the top of the photo;
On the photos I have given the new name as well as the old or commonly known name of each colour. The new naming came about due to the many names around the world for the same colour. In the genetics section I will explain some of the colours in detail.

Hi there,

The Whitehead-Whitetail IRN is a rare and valuable combination of the Blue and Cleartail mutations. Hence it is also called Blue Cleartail. However, only adult males have the white head and white tail. Hens only have the white tail. Male juveniles tend to have some semblance of white feathers on their faces. This is one of the rare instances where in IRNs can actually be gender-determined upon feathering. Both male and female would also have white down feather from the breast area down to the tail.

In the Green series, the mutation would have a yellow head and yellow tail. In the parblue series, they would have cream head and white tail.

Here are some pictures of two male Blue Cleartails babies that I produced the past breeding season. The mother is a visual Blue Cleartail and the father is a Blue split Cleartail.

They sure are pretty.
And I love seeing the young ones with Daddy. I don't think I've seen a pic
before of babies perced with Daddy. Way to cute.

Wow ! how soft and beautiful does the white on blue look, no wonder you do what you do Jay .. every bird i see of yours is heavenly.

Thanks for the compliments birdmates. Here's a couple of pictures of adult Blue Cleartail males. Also notice their feet and nails are lighter in color compared to the normal Blues. The two young males on the pictures above are baby males. They still have some blue feathers on their heads. But as they mature and after each moult, the head becomes almost totally white.

They are just beautiful, they almost dont look real, like they are made out of porcelain or the birds themselves have been airbrushed by someone. Stunning !

Sounds about right for Oz. Breeding age visual Cleartails are selling for about $2000 in the US, pricier than the Violets.

They are truely amazing. I want one!!!!!
I went to the pet store the other day and fell in love with a Sun Conure for $850, maybe if I tell my boyfriend the price of those special little babies, he will think $850 isnt a bad price for the Sun Concure ha ha

Is that cheating????? lol

Just be cautious about the suns they can be rather noisey ! much louder than an IRN. Just a heads up !

trust me the suns are noisier than irns...i have both and my sun when he wants something is SO noisy! ear splitting
