So... anyone have THIS problem?
Busey likes to bite. And it's not that annoyed nip you get sometimes when you ask him to step up and he doesn't want to, it's more like an EATING bite.
He'll just fly up and walk up to my arm and lick it and then bite it. Like it's the best food in the world.
At first I thought it was my tattoos and he was trying to remove them, but he does it on "blank" spaces too.
And he can't be deterred. A stern "no" stops him - for about a minute.
I push back when he does it, but he'll just come back.
Yes, Busey is not one of those trustworthy shoulder birds either. Ears must be sought out and eaten!
And he gets plenty of food (maybe too much) - pellets and some seeds and fresh sprouts and vegetables and fruits...
I just don't get it.
It's more of an annoyance than a problem, but it's just weird that he tries to eat me.
Anyone else have a human-eating bird?
I must taste good.

I think yours sounds like our Kai. They love to bite off your hairs the fine ones on your arms, they lick along until they find a hair and bite it off, or any little blemish or bit of dry skin they find.
They like to bite off your fingernails too, or clean under them. Its all a part of preening. Afterall preening their mates of bits and pieces, even broken feathers or toenails doesn't hurt the mate.. but preening our skin does, they just don't understand that.
I would say he just loves you and wants to treat you like one of the flock
Your job is to teach him what does hurt and is not acceptable. A growl and a push down on the head or beak over and over works with kai. He has pretty much given up on the preening bit.
The other thing we did is distract him with an icy pole stick or a bit of wood he can chew into, instead of us .. lol .

Plus Mickey and Mallory (now placed in a new home as a breeder) the wild females, Mickey is now paired with Kai and they are about to be parronts.
