Hi , my name is Konstantinos . I'me from Greece and i've recently bought an IRN . I had been breeding zebra finches and other finches for some years .I had handfed 1 cockatil before (which i later trained ...) and 4 days ago i bought a ringnecked parakeet from a pet-shop which cares for the pets (most pet-shops here don't care about the birds) cause i couldn't find a breeder .
I am 90% sure , my parakeet is younger than 3 years old (I 1st asked the assistants in the shop ...) , there were other ringnecked parakeets in the shop (more than 8 birds) caged from 1 to 3 birds in every cage and only 1 parakeet had a ring in his neck (not completely formed ring , just a little black stripe) and the assistants told me that all the ringnecks were from the same breeder (+ from the same breeding session) so i'm sure that all the ringnecks were younger than 3 and not just females ... (could they all expect 1 be females ?) . + the guys in the pet shop seemed to tell the truth so i desided to buy a bird from them :) .

The bird doesn't have a ring in his leg , it's a little terrified but it's the beginning and i don't think that they petted him ... at the pet shop so i don't think it's a wild bird , i think (well i'm sure) he's just not hand fed or not socialized after the bluffing session .
I know i should have asked for details but i'll do my best even if he's not ever tamed .

In the pet shop they didn't offered him pellets but i'm going to slowly include them to is daily diet .
I haven't tryed to place fruits in the cage yet but i'll do this tommorow .
I've placed the cage at the balcony , in a place where the bird can watch me and feel safe .
Should I place the cage inside the house so it will be able to watch more people and start to socialize with them ?
I'm staying at the balcny as more as I can , reading books , some metres away from the cage so the bird can watch me and what i'm doing .
I think i should place my chair closer to the cage day to day as he starts to feel more comfortable with me .
Today he is more comfortable wih my presence and i think this is a good way to start but it's still terrified .
I'll give him a lot of time to feel comfortable .

Are these steps correct ?
Should i do something more in the first weeks ?
Do I forget basic steps ?

Thank you for your time and sorry for my English , i'm not a native speaker but I'll try to improove :) .

What you are doing sounds great. You can choose to move him inside or continue what you are doing- your choice. I don't think one is better than the other especially since you are spending time near him.

How did feeding the veggies and fruits go?

Well , I put some carrot in the cage and he (I think he is a boy cause he has a stripe which seems a little dark under the beak) catched a piece of it with his beak twice and I'll wait to see more ...
I'll later place an orange in the cage .
Should I remove the seeds ?
Should I cut the pieces of it in smaller pieces ?
Should I place lettuce too , or should I let it for an other day ?

Hiya and welcome aboard. :)

When I give fruit and veg to my birds, I sometimes cut up various small amounts and place it in a bowl, other times I thread onto a fruit kabob and hang it in the cage. One day I may give them peas, diced apple (seeds removed), cooked sweet potato and broccoli, the next day I may give corn, grapes (seeds removed), cauliflower, orange, (seeds removed), just as an example. I try to give foods in season for not only nutritional value but also cheaper in season.

I finally placed the cage inside because of the cold .
Peter (tha's the name i'll give him) is still an little afraid of me when i'm too close to the cage but isn't as afraid as he was in the some days ago and after a some seconds he sometimes comes closer and stares at me for a while (he doesn't look afraid , just interested) and moves around the cage or just sit there , moreover he isn't as afraid when i look at him (i try not to stare at him) . I've brought him to the vet to clip his wings (a bit cause i won't let him get out of the cage so early) and nails (i've also purchased 2 different sized Sandy-Nail Trimming perches) .
He tastes the carrot and anything else i put in the cage but usually he doesn't eat it at all .
He seems to like sliced papaya and anything else in this , http://www.24parrot.com/Tidymix-Mixed-F ... ade-P5972/ , mixture .
I'll later place photos :D

I can't get good photos because every time i get back from school , most times , there's not a good lighting for taking photographs :x and i can never take a good picture of him when i've got the camera ready to capture him in the film (memory  ) but i'll try to take some good photos soon :D .
He still don't want to take anything (food) from my hand and is a little afraid when i'm too close to him but when i'm more than a metre away (or sometimes less) he is more interesting , sometimes comes near me when i play Call of Duty in my computer (or anywhere else in the room), 1,5 metres away from him (i think he tries to make me look at him) and he makes some cool sounds .
Yesterday i placed some pieces of apple in the cage and they were completely disappeared some minutes later :) . I'll try to give him some apple with my hand later to see if he comes closer or thinks to come .

They often come closer while you aren't watching them. I think it's usually one of two things: feeling safer to approach and check you out, or wanting your attention.

Most birds will prefer the fruits- it's all sugary and sweet. It's candy to them. Especially dried fruits where the sugar is even more concentrated! Will he try fresh fruits? Pear is a huge favourite here.

Let us know how his behavior changes after the wing clipping.
