update on sonny & quick question

Post by MCLOV1N »

hi all,

well it's been a week since Sonny joined our family and I'm glad to say, settling in well. Sonny was 3 months old when I got him/her and fresh from the aviary. Sonny has taken to target training incredibly well and also steps up onto my hand when he/she feels like it. only concern I do have is getting him/her in and out of the cage as he/she won't come out of own accord yet I can see Sonny eagerly wants out. have tried temptation with treats to No avail and don't want to continue with the towel treatment. any ideas would be appreciated. thanks.

time... :) keep bringing him out and handling him- leave the cage open at times for him to have an opportunity to come out as he's only young and new to your family.

or did you mean he won't hop up on your hand to come out?

If he is responding well to target training. Try to get him outside and inside the cage using the target stick. I think that should help.

thanks for replies chocobo & subodh.

definitely won't hop on my hand to come out. I try getting him out using target but he will only come as far as the door. I guess perseverance will be key here. he has Just started cohabitation with Stevie my red rump who is the same age but extremely tame and trained, so I'm hoping Sonny may learn from Stevie.

once again thank you for your replies. I take alot of comfort in knowing there is a bunch of lovely bird fanatics, such as myself, only a couple of clicks away.
