bathing

Post by Keiri »

is it normal for my baby irn to constantly put his head in his water bowl
im not sure if he is actually drinking the water or just dunking his head in the water for fun?
he is still eating baby formula at 6-7 weeks old but he has started eating a bit of seed and nibble at his vegies

Hi Keiri,

Yes. I think it's pretty normal, (although I don't have experience with a YOUNG irn - yet!)- sounds like he/she is having a bath :)

My (approx) 3 yo boy LOVES having a bath in his water bowl - on hot days when we have him outside in his cage, we also spray him with the garden hose, or use a spray bottle of water on him.....he goes absolutely nuts  He'll climb onto the side of the cage and spread his wings back so we can spray the undersides :D

We bought Sanjay a giant splash parrot bath, he refuses to go near it, he much prefers a shower with spray bottle :D with a drop of organic rose water and glycerin added. Sanjay also likes to wash his face in his water bowl.

Aw how cute:)
Yeah I used to have a couple of averies and my birds would love a light spray from the hose on hot days! I've never hand reared a baby irn before so sorry for all the questions :)
Lewi is very spoilt and extremely tame had to get his wings clipped because he kept escaping from his cage in my room and flying downstairs to me if I left him upstairs for a
Couple of hours. I put him in the big cage now as I was waiting til he was a bit bigger to put him in there. He seems to like it much better
And can't escape which is good!
Thanks for your replies:)
