When will the long tailfeather grow back?

Post by Iloveringnecks »

Hi all,
My beautiful ringneck Loomi 1,1 year old that I now is almost sure is a he, dropped his long tailfeather
shortly after he arrived home to us. It started to almost grow back and then he lost it again.
Is he "too wild" so the feather just drops when he is so active? He climbs, flapping the wings,
hangs upside down and is really a active happy bird;)and he also has enough space in the cage and we let him out every day:) I think perhaps he would need his long feather if he will navigate better when flying?

Any tip?

Hi MissK!

Ahaaa, no I am now when you say it, not sure...Oh what a sweet story about your cute bird and the feathers, I smiled a lot :P Aww I actually saved the two first "long" feathers from him that he dropped ( or they just fell of ) That is very interesting that it can be other feathers as well, rather than the tail feathers...
( Loomi is "chirping" and "growling" right now as we speak in the background  )Hahaha more and more "happy growling" :P And... now...he,s dancing right this second :P
His feathers "back there" has grown a LOT in only a week! The birdie looks "taller" now  :P

Oh yes, he does the "silly dance" more and more every day, ( 4 or 5 times a day )bows at the same time, his pupils becomes soooo small in the dance, he stares, sways from side to side and puts his "wings out in a heartshape, that is sooo adorable! :P  He also "sings" at the same time! Chirping, growling, squeeks and sometime it sound like he,s trying to talk while dancing! I try to learn him "Pe-ka-boo" and in the dance I can hear something like
" Hee-ha-hooo", :P  Sweet birdie!

Awwww....yes I will give him a nut or two to him :D

Thank you :D Best to you too and your Birdie! :P
