HELP! Too young to be plucking!

Post by Feverthepiggy »

I purchased my 5 months old Yellow indian ringneck 3 days ago. He is exceptional at becoming tame since the day I got him. He is no longer a biter and is already willing to step on my hand when I am offering his favorite fruit. But just today I noticed more than 5 pieces of soft feathers on the bottom of case. I work a 9 to 5 job and I leave work at 8 and get home at 6. He has two toys so far in his cage plus food and water. He is so smart at picking up things I already fall in love with the little guy. It worries me that he is already pulling his feathers at such a young age! I assumed if he get used to the live style at younger age, he won't feel bad about it. Should I leave the TV on during the day? getting him more toys? I can't stay home because I work a full time job. He was hand fed and he is at the final stage of weaning. Please help!

Do you mean soft feathers as in the little white peices of down? As far as I can tell, those come out all throughout the year. :)
