Something strange?????

Ok, here goes.

We got two ringnecks as you may have read on the other board. They came untamed and within a week I was shocked at the progress I made with MAX, however, Ruby was also following suit and taking food from our hands.
Max became so trusting in the first week that he would preen my eyebrows, give me parrot kisses and he was even flying to my hand. All of a sudden it all stopped, he will take seed from me but I have to be close and talk to him for a good 20 minutes before he'll do it.......It all seemed to change overnight and I have no idea why. As far as I'm aware no one has spooked them (although we did have a visitor who thought it would be helpfull to open the cage one morning but they just stayed in).

I have no idea whats happened but it's as if all trust has gone out the window and we're further back than when we first got them...any ideas or suggestions?

well a little setback is ok, just start over and be patient. Offer favorite fruit or veggies. Tell them theyre pretty, good birds, kissy noises..whatever they respond to.They will come around, it took me a long time with mine, now he wont leave me alone. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice.............I think the behaviour may have been due to mating, although we're not 100% sure......last night they finally came around again and started doing all the normal stuff they were doing in the first place....we also discovered that ruby, the female, couldn't fly due to a broken feather which has now come out....we think it may have happened with the struggle in the petstore.....hopefully she'll be up and flying soon!
