PLease help need advice

Hi my name is Paul and i just recently bought a IRN parrot that was living in an aviary with other birds, its a juniour and hasnt yet got its ring around its neck , as im pretty sure its a male and is probably about 1 year old... ive had it for about a month now and its trying to speak but the main concern is that it wont come near me. whenever i try to pick it up or go near its cage it goes mental and starts running up and down the cage trying to get away ... how do i solve this issue.. whats the best method of approach. i have the time on my hands just not sure how to get it to like me , can anyone give me any advice.

Hi, Congrats on your new IRN. Well, all I can say is lots of patience. Try sitting on the floor or a chair by his cage and talk or read to him. Praise him, blow kisses, offer treats or his favorite food. But let him come to you when he is ready, dont force anything or youll be back at the "drawing board" Read, read, read. Theres lots of info on the web. Remember hes in a strange place with new sights and sounds...hes frightened. Time, time and more time. My IRN was a rescue and he was pyscho when he got here, now a year later, I call him velcro bird, magnet bird, klingon,,ect. Im sure others will be here to help soon, Good luck.
