I just brought home a baby green IRN last night, I am ecstatic, I having been waiting almost a year to get a baby.

Better pics later, still leary of me at this point, looks like poop is no problem and finally he has eaten a little millet while I am typing this message. I am hoping he eats something today.
Maybe a drink of water also would be great.
Anyway, I have been reading everyones threads in site, very informative stuff and I had a Parrotlet, Cockitiel, but still have the "1st day" gitters regarding handling. Probably just let him do as he pleases today.

My baby I believe is either 3-4 mos old, frankly, I forgot I was so excited his age just didn't sink in after being told!
ops And the breeder wasn't sure about the sex, she believes he is a male.
That being said, He/she is named after me Threio (pronounced number 3, letter "O"), my full name, F,M, last name all end with the letter "O"
I do know he/she is the 3rd hatchling of the clutch and the last to go to a new servant. ...LOL
He's doing great, eating parrot mix and raw apples, found water cup today, so drinking water too, perfect.
My only problem is I didn't anticpate his size as a baby, I thought he would be much smaller and the cage I have available is the wrong size (24width x 12 H x 18D), that cage with the "house roofs" and dome in the middle, AARGH!
So, he doesn't go into his cage at ALL, just sits at the top amuses himself with a fat rope toy. Has no problem getting him in for chores and trip to store and at sleep time, BUT,
He is still pretty scared of me at this point, He jumps from the cage when I get too close to him, to avoid any jitters, I am not handling him, I use the roof tops to pick him up and get him into the cage at the moment. Maybe next week the hands and the Step-up training. I am disabled so I will be with him 90% of the time, I don't see the need to rush at this point.
The only thing confusing me is that he jumps from the cage instead of going into the cage, every other bird I have experience with always ran into the cage.
Is this a normal reaction by this breed?
