Color help

Post by MGA828 »

I am looking to pair up my female with a male and I have found a few males that I might be interested in. I was just curious as to what color babies I would get if I paired my lady up with any of these males, hopefully someone could help me out.

Albino Male X Grey Female

Blue Male X Grey Female

Green split to blue Male X Grey Female

would anyone know what I would get with these match ups?

My apprentices pinkdevil or lovemybirds should be able to handle this. They'll be scootin' along any time now... :D

Albino = Blue + Ino

Talk about thrown in the deep end Jay!

Albino Cock x Grey Hen

Cocks
50.0% grey (sf) blue/ino
50.0% blue /ino

Hens
50.0% grey(sf) blue ino
50.0% blue ino (Albino :?: )

Blue Male x Grey Female

Cocks
50.0% grey(sf) blue
50.0% blue

Hens
50.0% grey(sf) blue
50.0% blue

Green/Blue Male x Grey Female

Cocks
25.0% grey(sf) blue
25.0% blue
25.0% grey(sf) green /blue
25.0% green /blue

Hens
25.0% grey(sf) blue
25.0% blue
25.0% grey(sf) green /blue
25.0% green /blue

The grey(sf) blue will be visually Grey birds. I'm pretty sure the Blue ino is actually an Albino.

I would wait for Jay to confirm the above outcomes, as I'm just learning from the Master! I have done my best to give you the correct answers though.

 Did you hear that lovemybirdies??? We have upgraded to Jays apprentices :D :D :P

Ok, hope I have done this right.....

Albino Male x Grey Female

males
100.0% 1.0 grey(sf) blue /ino

females
100.0% 0.1 grey(sf) blue ino

Blue Male x Grey Female

males
100.0% 1.0 grey(sf) blue

females
100.0% 0.1 grey(sf) blue
* amendment made above*

Green split to blue Male X Grey Female

males
50.0% 1.0 grey(sf) blue
50.0% 1.0 grey(sf) green /blue

females
50.0% 0.1 grey(sf) blue
50.0% 0.1 grey(sf) green /blue

How did I go this time guys?

We got different answers .... again!

To get grey, I used Grey + Blue as Jay said in the Gencalc post that:

*visual Grey = Grey + Blue

Should I not have used that rule here? Maybe I'm in over my head :? I guess any apprentice would feel like that when they first start out!

Thats the combo I used to lovemybirds but I think I hit the (df) instead of (sf) in the visual grey column. I realized that after I posted my answer.

Good recovery pinkdevil and nice first shot lovemybirds. Always remember, unless mentioned, a dominant mutation bird is Single-Factor. You ladies are awesome. All the pairings are correct... as in wow!

Some notes on the pairings above:

100.0% 0.1 grey(sf) blue ino <<< This bird is what we would call an Albino (Blue + Ino) masking Grey. A visual Albino bird that carries the Grey gene and hence can breed Grey Factored offsprings.

Blue Ino is in fact an Albino bird and a TurquoiseBlue Ino or Turquoise Ino would be what we call a Creamino.
