colour sugestions?

Well as I don't know much about IRN colours I was wondering if someone could tell me the best colours to pair up together.

The colours I have are:......
skyblue hen
blue split albino
green cock
olive hen
lutino cock
lutino hen
grey cock
cin/blue hen
grey hen
grey split cin cock
blue lacewing cock

These were what I was told they were and not sure if there are any other hidden colours or not, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was

At the moment they are paired exactly as they were bought of the previous owner.....

skyblue hen x blue split albino
green cock x olive hen
lutino cock x lutino hen
grey cock x cin/blue hen
grey hen x grey split cin cock
blue lacewing cock

Any ideas would be greatly apreciated.

I would pair them as follows to maximize color possibilities and minimize probables and mutations masking another.

Blue/Lutino cock (no such thing as Blue split Albino) x Grey hen
Green cock x GreyGreen (Olive) hen
Grey cock x Cinnamon/Blue hen
Grey/Cinnamon cock x Blue Cinnamon (Skyblue) hen
Blue Lacewing cock x Lutino hen

Spare Lutino cock - This guy can match well with anything except Grey and Cinnamon. Lacewings, Turquoises, Blues, and even Greens would be a good mate for him.

Trade the Grey hen for a Turquoise hen (AKA Pastel in Australia) so you can produce Albinos and Creaminos when mated to the Blue/Lutino. Grey does not match well with Lutino because Lutino will mask Grey.

Bummer about no such thing as blue split albino. Those colours I mentioned were how they were advertised. Oh well still got a few combos to play with.

An Albino is a combination of the Blue and Lutino mutations.
Albino = Blue Lutino

So saying Blue split Albino is like saying Blue split Blue Lutino. A bird cannot be a split to Blue when he is already a visual Blue. A 100% Rottweiler cannot be a 50% Rottweiler at the same time.

lol ahhhhh ok I see it now :lol:

There was another IRN hobby breeder close by who had blue IRNs and he said his were also split albino, but now after reading your explaination it makes more sense

I think I am going to have to get myself a good book with explanations!!

Pinkdevil ~ I just bought on e-bay the Indian Ringneck Breeders Handbook by Phil Robson.

The lady I bought the breeding pair off, showed it to me on the weekend, and it shows colours and what babies to expect amongst other things. She highly recommended it to me. It looked pretty good!

There was one left on ebay, I paid $42.95 including postage.

I will be waiting patiently for my to turn up :lol:

That book is good for beginners, although I personally think there's nothing on that book that you can't readily research from the internet. Also, the mutation terminology used there is outdated so which means you're going to have to refer back to other sources (such as here) to define what mutation is being referred to.

I would pair them this way:

Blue cock x GreyGreen hen to produce Greens and GreyGreens and possibly TurquoiseGreys, Grey, Blues, TurquoiseBlues if hen is split Blue or Turquoise.

Albino cock x Blue hen to produce Blues and Albinos

Green cock x Lutino hen
Green cock x Albino hen

** If these birds are split to anything, you'll find out with this pairings. Just swap partners after a couple breeding seasons or so. I would diversify and trade up for the Lacewings after you sell some of the babies.
