PLEASEE HELPP ME DESPERATTEE
OKAYY :]i have 2 breeders there both blue adn one is a lacewing. now we have gototn a new cadge for them and they are compleatly and utterly untame!
i have no idea what so ever to do to get them into the avairyy im soooo sooo scaredd about moving them as when we got them they both nearly got hear attackss!
so i really am scaredd this is what i was going to do.
i was going to take all of the food and everything out and put all of it in the new one and its all new and clean and nice and its got all new toys and stuff.
and i was going to put the doors toghether so they really have to go in kinda and i was going to sppokl them so they go in acctually no im not im going to let them go alone. the only problem is that they compleatly dont really match the dorrs ahha so i might have to put like a sheet at the parts where they dont go
okayy wish me luckk
advicee pleasee

BIRDSS AREE PRETTY COOL :]
I can only offer my support as I have only just got a first wild bird myself, but everyone on this site have been really great offering support and ideas. In a short time I have seen some encouraging behaviour following their advice. When I move my IRN (Shanti) I have used those tough cheap leather gardening gloves and put them on loosely so when she bit she only got the glove, other times I have used a towel and I only have to hold her very gently and lightly then cos she stopped struggling. Maybe this will help. Good luck! Jenny
just my opinion cos I have learnt loads from here before this idea, but I reckon towel is better than gloves cos they will continue to relate gloves/hands as they look alike and then end up not liking hands ever.
I could of course be entirely wrong!
The first vet who clipped Max (sigh) used a towel and he was very relaxed. After that i went to pet shop once (specialist one) who refused to accept he wouldn't bite and used gloves so never went back there. After that he bit when being clipped.
Never had before - even though had been wild bird when I got him.
He always knew difference between left hand and right hand as well - was never as worried about the right cos it had never held him (it always had the scissors!!!)

I suggest spray them enough with water, until they become completely wet. When they wet cant fly so it is easier to catch them. Put out all perches, bowls and toys from the old cage and catch them with a glove in one hand, with your other hand untangle toes and beak from the wire.
Otherwise, like you said, put the doors together, leave the old cage without anything except a perch throw 2 doors, so the birds forced to stay in this only perch and is easier to pass to orher cage.
leave them alone for few hours, and i think that they passed to new.
good luck.

Can you put the cage inside the aviary with the cage door open and let them come out them selves? I hope im reading it right but may not be. When I bring new birds home after they have been quarantined for a while we take the holding cage out into the aviaries and open the holding cage door and go out and shut the aviary up and wait for them to have a look around before coming out.

Sorry but this method seems very cruel to me. There is no way I would/could do that to any of my birds. No matter how wild they are.

What is cruel?

i suggest just only a bath for minimaze the time of catch.
i love all birds and i want not to hurt them.
How do you catch a not tame bird in a cage or aviary?
When I went to a breeder to get my Yoda, there was about 4 other baby fledglings in the aviary along with the parents. The breeder used a towel to catch Yoda. It took a few tries, but the large towel or blanket method worked well. Although one of Yodas brothers or sisters escaped, just into the enclosed area at the back of the avairy as the breeder caught Yoda. While holding Yoda in a towel, he picked the other baby up and put it back with the parents. It was kaos in there, but was quick, all over in a minute. I'd be quick as you can with the towel or blanket if you can't move the cages together and let them climb into the new cage?

It takes an awful lot of water to make them completely wet and I could imagine it would also freak them out and make them flap around a fair bit trying to get away. I have no problem with toweling or gloves.
