Sam is still biting me!

Post by Sam's Mom »

I gave him the bigger cage and he seems happy in it. He took a bath in his water bowl today. He just seems to like biting me. He doesn't do it every time but it hurts bad when he does. I tell him "No biting!" and he still does it. What can I do? I want to hold him but I want him to be less aggressive. The way things are, I can't keep him with me very long. I would like to spend more time with him, too.

Unfortunately there is no magic fix, time, patience and an abundance of love is all I can suggest, sit with him on his terms and talk to him, you will make progrerss but it may take some time.

Use the search function at the top of the forum and search biting and aggression, the older posts may give you more confidence.

Also good on you for getting a big cage, its very important!!

Hang in there and keep us updated

8) Klaatu has bitten me a couple of times in the past 2 days. Not really hard but, I still take it personally. Started day before yesterday when I gave him a Rainier cherry. He was on top of his cage and seemed to have it trapped between the bars so I tried to move it closer to him. Also tonight I offered him a slice of apple from my hand and he tried as hard as he could to bite me instead of the apple. I used the slice like a shield but he did get me once.
