Now keep in mind that I am not an expert, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that your fid looks to be older than four weeks old. If he were that young, his eyes would be darker, no ring around the color. If his tail feathers are long, that also shows age. His beak color is darker like t...

Boreas,
Whether you like it or not, your life is now in the control of a little feathered creature
You may find that your relationship with your fid improves greatly once he is let out of the cage more. Just remember that patience and consistency is the ticket.

Another thing that may help is when you approach her cage, do it slowly and avoid making eye contact with her for too long. That can be viewed as being aggressive or predatory without you meaning to do so.

Ya, when we rescued Oscar and Luna, we were told that they were probably around a year old. By my math, the first time I had seen them, they were not babies, and it had been at least a year since I first saw them! Then when we got them home, Oscar began getting his ring about a month later. If the o...

For the issue of getting him to step up rather than having to chase him around the room with a towel, might I suggest getting him to step up on a stick? I am certainly no pro when it comes to dealing with ringnecks, but I would personally just leave them and go about your day as you normally do. Talk to them but let them see what you do in a day. When we had just Skyelar, his cage was in the living room, so when it was time for bed, we would drape a cover over the cage. He never showed any fear of it, and seemed to sleep better when the cover was on.

Melika, Luckily we live in the Pacific Northwest, so harsh sunlight and heat isn't a problem for us except for one week a year  So PVC works here.
