JUST REHOMED A 3YR MALE RING NECK

Post by robbiesangel »

due to his owner having to move home....

problem........... hes not been handled and wont let us near, he flaps when u go near his cage,
he was let out to fly but caught in towel to be put back in.....
we were hoping to be able to handle him, what are the real chances of this, and any tips, thanks in advance.

This will work, but its up to you..

Keep your hand in the cage as often as possible so he gets used to it.
Starting now, don't force her to do anything. When you want her out of the cage, just leave her door open, she will come out alone. You need to socialize with her, every time you see her moving around call her name and say hello & what r u doing. Try leaving her treats in the cage and wen you see her eating them, next time try handing her the treats from your hand.

put her cage in a room you spend lots of time in so she can see you going on with you normal day so the focus isnt just on her talk alot & eat in front of her ........
i dont know if its the curiousity that get them there or if your eating theres no danger but it works it calms them down
and the most important thing you need is patience it will take time
