Re- paint?

Post by Allyson »

Can I spray paint re paint my bird cage? I haven't got my bird yet and was wondering is it safe? Could she chew a bit off and get poisoned ?

I wouldn't do it. Others may have more to say.

HI,

Painting is not the best way to go about it, however if you must do it
Choose Aqua Enamel - made here in Au by Dulux,
if you live elsewhere make sure you buy water based enamel
apply with a baby roller
and allow it to dry for a few days to a week, the longer the better.

I've decided to build my own new cage, aprox 2m high, 1.5m width. Mhm!

Oh post photos when your done. I always like to see other people's cages. I must say it is better then painting it even if its safe your bird might chew on its cage and a bit might come of and hell ingest it and you don't know how it might effect it.

Good point Molossus,
I have used Apple Cider Vinegar to wash the wire & left it in the rain/sun for weeks.
Allyson, you can find them in rolls at Masters 900mm high and 1.2m also. i used the 1/2 inch by 1 inch holes
It is rather costly, better off buying a second hand aviary. (i have some if interested)
I know as i have just recently finished building 8 suspended aviaries (still have minor touches like safety corridor etc)
