Hi Krystallee,

Try giving your bird tender green gram (If its available there). That is their natural diet in wild. I have seen flocks of IRNs in the fields of green gram, and they give the farmer a tough time. I think your bird will also like it.

Hi Miss K,

Mung is something different. But that is also loved by my babies. Sprouted mung are actually very good for weaning babies as they are soft and full of essential vitamins for the birds. Also there is a similar seed known as matki (in hindi). Its appearance is the same only the color is brown. The mixture of sprouted mung and matki is very good for all kinds of parrots.

The tender Green gram that i mentioned is this

I tried to post the pic was not able to. Please see if you can go the link given above. Also the local name is HARBARA in Hindi.

Hi Miss K,

They eat only the fruit of that plant. It soft green cover over it. and inside is the fruit or seed you can say. It is very tasty overall. I love to eat it myself. The link that i have given you also has a pic of the fruit with the cover. I wish you luck in finding it in your area. I know very well that you will go through all the trouble for Rocky. Also just a suggestion, try the sprouted mung and matki mix or only sprouted mung for rocky and let me know whether he likes it. Even your budgies will like it. I have seen budgies going bonkers over it.

I tried my new guys on Goji berries today and Leo who usually won't take a treat, or tosses it when he does, stole one from Benny and now they both come running with eyes dilating when they see me holding one of those little berries.
