Hi all from NE Pennsylvania
Hello all,
I want to introduce myself my name is Donna and I am
completely happy to have stumbled across this site I will
be picking up my 8 month old IRN tomorrow
and am truely excited, but also a bit nervous as to what to expect
first off I will have to be traveling 2 1/2 hours to pick him/her up then
back another 2 1/2 to get home and it is going to be in the single digit's weather
wise and right off the bat that makes me a bit nervous bringing him out
in that cold of temp, but its the only day I can get him.
Then I am taking him out of a home he has been in for 8 months
I dont know much more about the bird other then he is healthy, eating
well, a mix of seeds, veggies ,nuts and fruit's.
I don't know if he has been hand raised (why didn't I ask??? IDK lol)
I know he is just coming into being vocal.
I also know he stated the bird needs to be worked with and
he doesn't have the time thats why he is selling him.
I have seen a picture of him and he is quite beautiful.
I did do alot of reading on here and feel alittle more
comfortable, but I hear they can be a hand full I am definitely
up for it as I have the time and I have experience dealing with birds
as I have 2 mated tiels that are laying now and the male was a
rescue bird and talk about hard to handle he was a spit fire
but now is very tame sweet bird and talks up a storm.
Well I think that covers it any help would be so great
and again I am happy I have this place to come to now
thanks Donna

They are incredibly beautiful birds with great personalities. I love this site too and there is always something new to learn. Good luck with your new baby!

Welcome Donna!!
I think you'll do fine Just let him take as long as he wants to get use to his new home.
The traveling in the cold weather shouldn't be a problem as long as you cover his cage or crate.
Glad you joined us

Hi DonnaLee! i am NE PA too, living in williamsport. i traveled 3.5 hrs 2 weeks ago to pick up my IRN in Laurel MD. her name is Betty and today is the 1st day she stepped up on my finger for me.
and i didn't even get bitten!
she is cage agressive and lunges when i stick my hand on or in her cage.
so is my other bird Marnie. she is a sweety too until i mess with her stuff lol!
i guess they need little birdie signs for their cages that say "keep out"
can't wait to see pics of yours. what color is he?

Welcome DonnaLee. How did the trip go?
Re: Hi all from NE Pennsylvania
Good Morn,
The trip went extremely well and my little boy (we think hes a boy) is home and very happy. The best was he is eating apple and banana from my hand.
I was beside my self when I saw his tongue how weird is that it's like a weird worm lol he was nippling on my finger not hard just exploring I guess.
I love him already ! He slept right through the night coverd on my dining room table I wanted to get to him as fast as possible in case of a night fright. He has a loud screech which seemed to stop when he got settled in last night then he mumbled alot of weird gargly sounds which was incredibly sweet.
The previous owned said he just finished with a pretty extreme molt where as
he lost a few tail feathers and now his tail looks a bit ratty his wings are clipped and they look a little ratty coming in also he need alot of love for sure!
Ok if I can post my picks from when we got home last night
I will I am sure I can figure it out lol
So can anyone tell me what the next step for Ty and I to take
I do want to give his some time to settle in too.
Can someone tell me what a normal routine would be for a young Ringneck?
Thanks for all your input
and a shout out to my PA friends on this board too ;)
