Crying for Skitty

Sad turn of events. Two days ago, we had our grandson with us, and my wife took him for a walk to see the birds and bunnies. At 4 months old, he doesn’t really do more than stare at the loud green things hopping about in the cage. I myself was busy cleaning up yard debris after removing some old dyi...

Re: Goldie's Lories

I wasn't sure if I put this in the right place, but thought I would give it a shot anyway. My sister is looking to adopt/buy a Goldie's Lorikeet and NO ONE in Virginia has them, or at least not for sale. I was wondering if any of you great IRN owners know where she can get one in the States or can ...

Wow, what a tale. You really seem to love birds, so you need to get yerself a bunch! And as for the ex... give him a bird of a different sort. He certainly deserves that much.

:) Welcome!

I have Skitty sharing an "aviary" (8'x8'x4', outside my bedroom with sliding glass doors) with a Nanday Conure (Isis) and to provide a little something extra, I installed several 2gph misters on the outside of the cage, adjustable to increase/decrease the amount of mist that actually makes...

Great pics! Ol' Pete there reminds me of a pirate, with that eye. All he needs is a patch and a little hat, and he'd be all set! The dreaded Pete the Pirate! Beware that beak! Arrggh, matey! A quick question... I noticed the fishing poles in the last pic. Are they hooked or do you remove the hooks w...

... began to hop and tap his beak, making the male call, flaring his wings out (from the shoulder) stretching up and tapping his beak down again, pinning his eyes and dancing around the other bird like some tuff heman ... Endearing qualities that attracted my wife to me. What a wild night in that b...

Congrats on your new friend, and welcome to the forums. I live here in Florida as well, and have a wonderful female (well, so far... she's still young) who was very people-shy when I got her. Now, she's much better, will step up if she's out of the aviary, and sings her little heart out. Such a voic...

Wish I could, but my daughter is doing a weekend stage production of Grease for the High School, and I'll be busy playing taxi driver for a bit.... Sure sounds like fun, though. I'm in Spring Hill, which is well north of Tampa, but not really too much of a drive with such nice weather as we're havin...

Welcome to the most informative IRN board available on the net. I too have found this place to be a wealth of information, and the folks here are sincerely bird lovin' people who really care about the feathered friends they have found as companions... Cool to see that your pups and Parka get along w...

At first, Skitty wouldn't touch pellets (Zupreem) though my Red-Headed Conure (Pappy) and my little Nanday sweety Isis seemed to like them. Lately Skitty is finding the pellets yummy, though she sometimes wets them first to make them soft. If I give her enough, she will fill the water bowl with them...

Unless I'm badly mistaken, Skitty is a girl, about a year old. Fortunately, if Skitty turns out to be a fella, I don't have to change the name.

Birds are ideal because they rest at sunset, as opposed to a sugar glider... you wouldnt make many friends that way. But, Gliders aren't very noisy unless they're mad. My daughter has a pair and the only time they get really noisy (besides warning barks) is when they get angry at being woke up duri...

Just a quick "hello"!

Hiya, folks! I just want to pop on here for a moment and say hello, and to say thank you. I recently purchased a very frightened green IRN from a petshop, and this site has been a tremendous help in learning the habits and behaviors involved in these very charismatic birds. My bird's name is Skitty,...
