Hello all, I am getting my IRN (male blue) from a local breeder next month. They are currently being weaned.

I am looking at cages and someone in my area has this cage on craigslist for sale and I fell in love with the clear front door.

It is 25x25x41" cage size(the actual enclosure) and the cage itself is 71" tall with the play perch on top.

What do you think of it?

The bar spacing looks quite large (designed for larger birds) which can and will cause problems over the years, all you need is one reckless wing to get through it (and it does happen alot in playtime etc in wide space cages) and bang, you have a very expensive and traumatic wing break on your hands.

So long as the cage has bar spacing under 1.75cm (utter max) you are good to go.

here a link to a pet shop in canada that carries your style of bird cage. u could compare its size to see if it is suitable for your bird.

personally I don't like it cause the clear front takes away climbing space, and I can just picture in my mind a bird flying straight into the front of it to land on the perch when the front is closed.

yeah you guys are right. I thought about this cage a little more and I think I am going to go with a traditional cage with metal/powder coat.

I honesty don’t like it either. It’s also pretty low to the ground, birds love to be up high.

Well its up to you floridamed, but one thing
i dislike is how the bird has no climbing room
at the front.

Hey guys,

Yeah I totally scrubbed the idea of this cage. I got him a traditional parrot cage with a play top. Its pretty large.. 23x32x37 (cage only) and of course he is out of it every second he can be. He hangs out on the play top and just goes back inside when he gets sleepy (its tooooo cute!)

Heres the one I got. Its about 20-25" off the floor and the top is almost too high for me to reach, so I think its about perfect. I also have a slightly larger (kinda old..) cage for outdoor use if I want him to catch some sunshine
