Strange feather behaviour

Hi my Indian ringneck is going through a Molt at the minute, he is 11 months old.
My concern is he is preening majority of the day more than seems usual to me, I have also noticed he will hold feathers that have fallen out and preen them whilst holding onto it?
He is booked into the vet for Friday and I’m just concerned something is not right, has anyone else had similar situations
