Captain Jack

Post by sheryl »

My 2 yr old IRN is Captain Jack. He is my very first bird.
He was not handtamed when we got him but now after 5 weeks will step up on a stick for me.
He seems to be more attached to my hubby, will come running right over to him, take treats and nibble his arm hair. With me he is still a little frightened, very cautious about taking food from my fingers. Hurt my feelings at first since I am the one who cleans, feeds and talks to him.
After some research I have realized that is the way it goes sometimes.
Lately he is pacing furiously back and forth with his body lowered and his wings raised or flapping and squawking. Is this a sign of mating season behaviour or something else? It is pretty cute.
Jack also doesn't seem to be interested in fruits and veggies much. Just his pellets and Nutriberries. Still put them out everyday. Should I be concerned?
Thanks, this is such a great forum.

:D Hi Sheryl
I am sure you will get some great advice here as i have,
I would get very upset if my birds preferred someone else aswell :!:
But keep trying, maybe he thinks your hubby is his girlfriend lol
