HomeMade Parrot gym /T-stand

Post by bastard_x5 »

While im waiting anxously to get my Fid > i just learned what it means i decided to try and build a homemade parrot gym or a T stand..and by me i mean my partner coz i have no conception of screws and bolts what so ever, has anyone ever tried building those? instead of spending 187 dollers on a store brought one?

im thinking of using Arbutus Menziesii wood which apperantly is natural and really good... something along the lines of this but not too big, just nice enough to go with the living room (i already have a huge cage set up heres a pic

belive it or not this was actually built for an indian ringneck

lol isnt that crazy! i love it though...i just think it would suit a bigger bird like a macaw or an african grey u know?

on the other hand i got the wood! from the beach nice looking logs too...drift wood or beach wood as they call it , is it safe for birds? i know it might have salt int them i might try to sand it down and wash it, should i apply anything to it? anyways ill be taking pics soon

I would not use drift wood for my birds if your birds chew it they will die
you would have to find s way to boil that wood in fresh water over and over If I where you I wpuld just find a nice bird safe tree and cut some branches myself I'm giving you a link for bird safe wood just scroll down the page and it will have a list for safe wood for birds
