Aggressive Bird

Hi. I have my IRN's for 8 months now. My female was very tame, I could feed her and hold her no problems. They started pairing so I put a breeding box in the cage. It is two weeks now that my female is in the box only coming out occasionally, since she went into the box she became very aggressive towards everyone coming close. Is this normal? Could it be because she is getting ready to lay eggs? There are no eggs yet but I am keeping an eye on her, I don't want to miss the signs of her getting egg bound.
