Greetings from Greece..

Post by Lucky7 »

Hi guys.
Wanted to say I'm glad I found this fabulous source of info here on the forum regarding these beautiful ringnecks.
I'm kind of a novice and I have a couple of questions and need your help :-\
I was given an adult Dark Blue CHCT male and was wondering what would be a good color hen to choose for him to
get some chicks like their father.
Also if anyone can please tell me or have a picture(s) of what a young dark blue CHCT looks like. I'm asking cause
my sister loves mine and thought of getting her one for her birthday 8)
I can find most of the mutations here for sale, I just want to make sure I get the right one.
This is the one I have. I hope the photo's owner does not mind me posting it here.
Thank you.

Hello. CHCT aka Cleartail is a recessive mutation. That means that both parents have to carry that gene, visually or as a split, in order to have visual offspring. In order for your bird to produce babies that look like him you will need a female that carries the cleartail and blue gene. If you want several colors including Cleartail Cobalt you might want to try breeding him with a Turquoise Cleartail female.

Dark Blue Cleartail x Turquoise blue Cleartail
25% Blue Cleartail
25% Turquoise blue Cleartail
25% Dark Blue Cleartail
25% Dark Turquoise blue Cleartail
