Can you get a photo of the cage? I'm a little confused about your question.

I think your talking about the perch? That's where they will usually mate and some do it in the nest box. I don't think they will do it on the cage floor, that's not natural to them to do that.

The width and height both 40cm is way to small to house a ringneck, let alone 2 in my opinion. The length is great. Sounds like a flight cage for smaller birds.

I'm sorry to say that I don't find that cage suitable at all for Indian Ringnecks, let alone for breeding them.

Please look into other housing for your birds, and maybe put a couple of pairs of finches in that cage... Max 4 birds. I've heard finshes are really good breeders... You'll probably need to relocate the cage, so they get more light.

Also research breeding Ringnecks, as it requires a lot more than putting male and female together.

In my honest opinon this cage is not suitable for breeding ringnecks. I can hardly see it but what I do see it's way to small. If you can't afford a bigger cage then maybe you need to look into another hobby other then birds. Like Lene said you can't just put male and female together and expect nice healthy babies. Their diet has to be rich in calcium and other things. Your not ready to breed birds. Do more research!!

they require a fair bit more space than that. The length can be double that and I would still say its not right. Where are you planing on putting breeding boxes or are you just going to let them make a nest?

Just by looking at that, cage it can be seen that it is not large enough for any ringneck. You state the height at being 40 cm which equates to roughly 16 inches. The average length of an IRN is 14-17 inches. This barely leaves enough room for the tail feathers. I believe you mentioned in another topic that the tail feathers are missing/broken. This is because they do not have enough space to play and do the normal "birdie" things. If your intention is to breed these birds, I suggest you look for a MUCH larger cage... They will need the space away from each other and room to expand their wings and feathers. Broken feathers can lead to blood loss which can be very tragic.

My IRN's are in a cage that is 48 inches x 36 inches x 48 inches.

no it is not suitable for irns, maybe its ok for rabbits

you need at least double in height, and more width , more perches in vertical potition, because now your birds cant jump or fly.
And dont put the cage in the floor, birds feel uncomfortable when they are low, put the cage ( no this, OTHER) in a table or somewhere higher ( at least 1m from the ground).
And the bars space is small.
Also your cage need toys and a calcium stone or cuttlefish.

I am pretty new to owning an irn but I can clearly see that your birds don’t look very happy to have such a short cage I am shocked. I think you need a far taller one and much more light there are no toys or anything and only one perch I thought they need more than one and a variation of sizes to keep their feet healthy "The perches need to be sized different as well. Perches that are the same in diameter throughout the cage do not properly exercise the parrot’s feet.” I find your cage to be extremely cruel and I think you should get a far bigger one.
