Is it normal to not hear the babies..

Just wondering if its normal to not hear the babies after they have hatched, even when the hen is out of the box I dont hear the baby calling. I had a look today and the baby looks like it has put on weight and is doing well.

Chicks only make noise when they are hungry begging for food.

Yup. I have no chance of hearing bubs when they come out with most my pairs. Its only chance that the parents were being lazy around the time you happen to check them that they are vocal.
Or in particularly warm weather when the parents are out of the box, when tiny the bubs seem to think a scruffling of noise i make might be mum comming back.. who knows.
