Brad and Ange

Post by brad_ange »

Hey, we are from Qld Australia and have owned a bonded pair of ring necks for the last 6 months. We bought a baby last Saturday but we seem to be struggling a bit with him. He was sold to us fully weaned but have not seen him eat or drink since we got him. We resorted to hand rearing formula and hes quite demanding of it. Have not handraised a baby before weaning and a bit unsure of how to wean him. We were told he was around 8 weeks old.

We have joined this forum for some help and advice.

Welcome to the forum. I'm in qld also, on the rather grey looking sunshine coast.

Congrats on your new baby. 8weeks is a bit young to be fully weaned. Between 10 and 12 weeks is the usual age to wean as far as I know. If you search "abundance weaning parrots" I think you will find some info that may help.
