I didn't know that Alex would would molt like they do and in the winter? javascript:emoticon('')Nikki started to molt about a month ago. I have only had him for 3 yrs so this will be his 3rd molt with me? I didn't know that Alex's would molt like this. His head looks awful with a flat top and pin feathers all coming in. He lost his beautiful long tail feathers which I am going to make something with them. Is there anything special that I should do for him? He loves showers and only get them on warm days. I'm wondering about nutrition? He eats a balanced diet, fruits, vegetables, peanuts, pellets, etc.
thanks for replies javascript:emoticon('')

They do look a bit 'ratty' during a moult. But they soon get nice new feathers.
As long as hes eating alot of fruit and vegies, he should be fine, diet wise.

My vet also told me that long moults and loss of color can sometimes mean liver problems. Maybe get a vet to check him.

I actually suspect my birds have a sign up sheet to be sure that someone is always moulting, lest the floor not be a total mess. Hope Nikki is feeling beautiful again soon!
