So my bird started the bluffing stage..

It dont hurt to bad although i have like 20 little swolen balls all over both my hands should i just keep letting him bite me till he gets bored? also he takes food off my hand very calmly but if i put 1 finger on his cage he charges it?? any suggestions on how i can approach the situation with my bird?

Oh our little Charlie has started too it seems...he's been a little agressive and grumpy the past few days and lunges forward to bite. Just now he's walking over my keyboard and I asked for a kiss and he lunged at me and bit my lip.....bloody hurt too and I know you are supposed to ignore this but it's hard as my instant reaction was to get cranky. Anyway I too need some help with this situation as the kids r too scared to play with him now as they think he'll bite them

Fotunately, mine hasn't done this with me, but I have seen lots of postings here. Try the search key up on top (I would look for you, but have to get to work). Good luck!

Not sure if I do the right thing or not but I force Nila to step up and down several times and then reward his good response with a sunflower seed.
But the times when he steps down and turns around and tries to bite again I may do the step up but if he persists I turn my back on him, That always gets him, he'll think about it for a minute then start his little chirping and talking to me and want to be picked up.

Shame, I know how you must feel.
When my Kokkewiet went through the bluffing stage, I felt like giving up on him because he turned into a monster overnight. But I am so happy that I didn't give up on him because now he is the sweetest little baby again, even though he is moulting. He still has mood swings but that I can still handle.
My advice to you would be, DONT GIVE UP ON HIM/HER, even though he bites the daylights out of you. I have marks on my arms from trying to put food in his cage. The bluffing stage will pass and the key word here is patience, a lot of it.................
GOOD LUCK AND I KNOW WHEN THE BLUFFING STAGE IS OVER, HE/SHE WILL BE THE SWEETEST LITTLE ANGEL AGAIN!!!!
