Hello, I have an aviary raised cobalt IRN and is nearly 2 and I was wondering if anyone could hazard a guess at its gender?
I'm leaning towards female as I don't think there is any ring development... but what would you guys say? I have seen it do a slow strut while pinning as well as standing up and murmuring. Is this because I've started to sit in the yard relatively close to him/her?
Cheers!

Re: Hello!
I see a ring. It doesn't look white, though. Any black on the neck under the beak?

Re: Hello!
No not really, its just that grayish colour all the way around, could it possibly be a he?
I'll try get a better picture but it's a bit shy.

Re: Hello!
All I can really say is that it doesn't look anything like adult male colouration to me. I have a blue male, and the white is really white. Why don't you get a DNA test or wait a year? Are you certain of the age?
Couldn't say about the behaviour. It's been reported that they don't necessarily sort themselves out till maturity, and that even then, in a same sex pair, one may display opposite gender body language.
Pretty bird.

Re: Hello!
Yes, I was thinking about DNA testing, was looking though some of the companies that do testing. I'm impatient .I got him/her at about 6 months from a breeder so I'm quite confident its about 18 months old, so not quite 2 years old yet. Thanks for the help!!
