Do Parrots do it?
Has anybody seen or heard of (with a reasonably reliable source) female Ringnecks hatching unfertilized eggs?
How about other parrots?

You bet. All the time.
If a hen sat on an egg for a year and a day it might hatch.

Re: Do Parrots Do Parthenogenesis?
that's a neat question.. of course AJ gave the simplest answer ever haha..
I don't know why they wouldn't... they'll take the time to make the next and pick a spot and all... seems like they'd take the time to sit on the egg too.. whether in vain or not.

Billie sat on four eggs last year two real and two dummies for 6 weeks l got fed up with not seeing her so l took them away. She did not lay any more. This year she laid one and ate it and then laid another which got broke no names no pack drill. Now she is moulting
Re: Do Parrots Do Parthenogenesis?
Sure we know hens will LAY eggs that have not been fertilized by a male, but my question has to do with the situation in which a chick might HATCH out of one of these eggs.
AJ, you might have to let Billie sit on her own eggs for a while, in the name of research..........

Re: Do Parrots Do Parthenogenesis?
The last time she laid an egg in January l quickly changed it for a dummy and over night she ate most of it, l am now down to 3 dummy eggs. There are no eggs at the moment.
She is still moulting and looks revolting
