Set up to Breed Green/Blue IRN

Post by Wakizashi21 »

Hey guys,

Good to be back! I am trying to breed my two IRN's and i have just added the nestbox.

Questions.

1) Does the Nestbox need to be at the top of the cage?Is that a priority?

2) Do they require loads of darkness?

3) The female and Male do tend to fight alittle which is abit worrying. but its not aggresive fighting. i have monitored them and they dont harm eachother. why would the female behave in this way?they have been chewing the top of the nest box slightly.

4) I live in the UK, so December is winter time. is this the correct time for breeding?

5) Can the birds chew and widen the hole on the nest?i think the nest hole is around 2.5 inches.

Any advice will be brilliant!

Hey this is how I would go of it

1-most likely I don't see a bird nesting in the ground

2-if there in a cage just cover them when it's dark time, take it off wen sun rises

3-what I have notice that the females run the division most females are aggressive come breeding time

4-here were I live they breed in spring time ..(late winter early spring)

5-they'll proberly fit through 2.5inch

Hey,

was just wondering how you would attach the big nestbox to the cage iteself? i want to give the birds more room within and would be nice to sort of attach it to the side.

will birds definitely not breed if the nest is at the bottom?
