Sapphire just does things differently

Post by InTheAir »

Janey and Charlie lent us one of their foraging toys, the mastermind heart. Sapphire immediately figured out something that had to be explained to me, you can take the treat holder pieces out of the body of the toy in a certain spot.

She has solved the toy several times the proper way and got the treats hidden in it, yet she prefers to pull it apart and play with the pieces instead.

Isn't she! The floor of her cage is littered with treats.
It does lead me to wonder how many other parrots have figured that out...

it's a little cup thing that you put the treats into. When the bird pushes the cup to the V in the top of the heart, the treats fall into the open part of the toy. There is one place where you can remove the cups from and Sapphire has found it!

In other news, the "barrel of fun" took Nila a couple tries to figure out. http://www.myparrotshop.com/hanging-toy ... d_350.html I'm always so impressed by parrot problem solving! Sapphire does it differently too, I'll try to video it next time is her turn.

The toy Sapphire is playing with is this one:

It belongs to my two (Janey & Charlie) but they haven't had much success with it yet and it's unlikely that they will until breeding season is over.... so I thought I'd leave it for Nila & Sapphire to play with.

Claire - I've got the third treat cup and the things that screw it into place on the cage if you want them.
