Young Blue female IRN with pale pinkish beak

Post by Dportgang »

I have a young DNA'd female Blue IRN (mother was gray and father was blue) and her beak is not red but more pale pinkish. I had someone ask me about this and I don't know if it is because her mother was grey, maybe a mutation thing? However, I have a violet/cobalt female baby that also has a lighter beak, while the male has a red beak already ( he is about 2-3 months older). Any ideas on the beak coloring??
Thanks for any input

Hi

The beaks of certain mutations are pinkish when the bird is very young which later turns to orange (only in certain mutations) and then to red as the bird matures.

So it can be either mutation related or age related.

I'm sure if you're able to show us a few pictures of the birds in questions we would be able to provide a better answer.
