Peewee was Murdered

Well, I told you guys how I rescued a baby peewee when his parents kicked him out of the nest too early. Well he was doing so well, adult feathers were all coming in. Of course, we released him as soon as he could fly so for the past few months we have only had visits from him and caught glimpses of him when he flashed past the windows or couldn't find his way out of the chook pen (after stealing their scraps). Well, the other morning i found that a magpie couple were bullying him and so i ran out and rescued him. He was all wet because of the dew and being rolled by the maggies. Anyway, i put him on a hanging plant to dry out and he took off again after an hour or so. I didn't see him again for a few days.
Yesterday I was refilling the wild bird feeders and I found his little body. I think the magpies had attacked him again and this time finished the job. Anyway, my sweet little Peewee is buried in his favourite sunning spot near the bird feeder.
Just thought I'd share this with you guys because it helps to get it out.

I've noticed that the magpies are also annoying my irns and my kingys but with the new aviaries, when the maggies land on top, the irns and kings climb up and bite their feet until they go away. They also do that to the butcher birds. Ive also got the magpies hassling the chickens - especially the babies, and my geese. They are getting really aggressive in defining their breeding territory at the moment.
Sounds nasty, but when we had a crow problem (they peck the eyes out of newborn lambs until they die then feast on the carcass) i got a pellet gun that I used to wing them until they got the hint and left our lambs alone. Now the maggies have moved in i'm thinking of going vigilante again....hubby won't let me though and just sings me that stupid circle of life song from lion king....thinking of winging him with the pellet gun too

it doesnt sound nasty to me.here we see kids running down the street screaming because the maggies are swooping them, whatever happened to the icecream container hats our parents used to make us wear to the bus stop.
