Hello everyone, I've got a pretty big issue right now with some violet offsprings.
I paired an Violet x Violet pallid.
And I thought that the offsprings were:
2 violet DF
2 violet SF
1 blue
Now I need to know if my assumptions are correct because they left theis nest today and when I compared their colour to the cock's colour it seems very identic to me.
So I really need your help with this one if possible!
Cock on top with the 2 babies on the stick:
now this picture is the one that it really confuses me:
I hope someone can help me.
good breedings for everyone
URGENT! violet df or violet cobalt??

Re: URGENT! violet df or violet cobalt??
Going by the last pic, left to right, top to bottom:
(Birds on the end that is furthest away)
dfViolet, sfViolet Blue,
(Hen on the perch)
sfViolet Blue Pallid,
(Birds on the floor)
sfViolet Blue, Blue
(Cock on the side wire)
sfViolet Blue,
(Bird on the floor)
sfViolet Blue
I think you will find that the angle you have taken your pics will make the birds appear darker than what they actually are- try taking some from the side of the aviary, with the nesting box on your left.
Btw,
Nice outcome

I will have to catch the birds and take pictures of all of them with sun light on them. What do you think of the male? Does it look cobalt violet to you?sheyd wrote:Going by the last pic, left to right, top to bottom:

first when I they hatched it looked like 2 Df violets. here's a picture with the flash on while they were still on the nest:
Thank you for your help!

Re: URGENT! violet df or violet cobalt??
To me, one appears darker than the other (in the box).
No need to take pics individually in the sunlight- that would be taking it to the other side of the extreme.
To get a real idea of their varying shades, one needs to have them all within a group shot- like the one taken on the end, but from where your aviary is situated (in regards to the light)- preferably taken from the side of the aviary instead (with the nesting box on your left).

Hi Miguel, I think you'll get a better response if you upload a group shot with all of them close to one another.
Re: URGENT! violet df or violet cobalt??
Does look as if there are some DF violets in there.
