colour question

Post by Jade »

Okay, my aviaries are finished and i'm about to pair up Yellowy (who, as her name states, is yellow) with Frank. Yellowy is a 2 year old lutino female, her mother was green split yellow and her dad was green. Frank was given to me so i'm not sure about his history, but hes green.

I tried that calculator thing - i'm totally confused!!! Any help would be much appreciated.

Green Cock x Lutino Hen
=Green/Lutino Cocks
=Green Hens

Yellowy's parents would have been Green/Lutino Cock x Green Hen. Hens cannot be split to sex linked colours.

if the male is green with no split you will get all green baby's with a split for yellow i believe

You are partly correct Surfer. But as Jeremy mentioned above, hens cannot be split to a sex-linked mutation.

So there is no such thing as a hen split to Lutino, Cinnamon, Lacewing (Pallid), or Opaline.

I'm fairly new to color breeding myself and this is both fascinating and intriguing.
