Dexter is 11 weeks old, and I've had him about 3 weeks. I am a bit worried he is too quiet. I've only heard him chirp a dozen or so times, so far. He was hand fed, but not really hand tame. I talk/whistle to him as often as I can. I have also gotten him to trust me enough to 'step up'. Am I doing something wrong? Is this normal? Is there something I can do to entice him to "make some noise"? I've seen videos of other IRN's at the same age talking already. Any help is appreciated.

Some birds are noisy some are quiet do not worry. It is the same with talking you can repeat a word until you are blue in the face and not hear your bird say it, l think birds talk whan they feel lonely or neglected. My Alex hen never says a word because she gets what she wants. But when l get it wrong she lets me know. l did not think birds could use such bad language! In their own tongue of course.

We have four birds and honestly it can get rather loud around here at certain times in the day. When they first wake up and in the evenings. We just understand that there are certain times in the day where we will not be talking on the phone, listening to either radio or television, or having any kind of coherent conversation

Thank you! That does make me feel a bit better. I just want him to be happy. I have been playing videos of other IRN's and he stops whatever he is doing to listen, even if he is eating. I will just have to be a bit more patient. Thank you
