diet-kiwi seeds

Post by avinash »

Please can anyone tell me if its okay to feed my ringneck kiwi fruit with the seeds? Or should I remove the seeds before feeding?

My birds have shown no ill effect from eating this from time to time.

Indian Ringneck, Budgerigar, Canary
I present the fruit cut in half and they eat what they want. Some prefer the seeds, some the fruit. None eats the skin.

Okay thanks for the info. I have two ringnecks. One is 6 months but he's already developing a black ring. I understood that happens after a year. Maybe I was wrong. Anyway thanks again.

could he be a little older than you were told?..

I got my bird at 6 months and his ring started showing at around 8 months .. it was faint but it was definitely showing... yours is just an early bloomer i suppose..

and as for the topic at hand... yes kiwi seeds are perfectly safe for your bird and likely good for him too

No I got him when he was two weeks old. Will try to upload a picture. And yes I guess he's an early bloomer. Also he hasn't gone through the bluffing stage. Is that still to come or am I just lucky?

I spear washed unpeeled kiwi fruit on a skewer and hang it up in the cage, Sanjay loves biting chunks of skin and pulp off to get to the seeds in the middle. :D

Hahaha. It is amazing how these birds learn stuff so quckly. Rio knows how to unclip the battery cover from the tv remote...thing is once he's got it...he refuses to give it back. Hahaha
