First breeding season.

Post by Gunzorz »

Hi everyone. I'm getting setup for my first breeding season here in Aus. I've got a few irns as I just like them and don't have the best colour pairs but am looking for some advice that will help increase my flock diversity.

My cock birds are. Lutino, grey chct, green & blue
My hens are. Albino, grey pallid, green cinnamon, blue pied & turquoise.
I have a juvenile violet cobalt cock bird, Blue lacewing, blue and Lutino.

The only one I've really considered is putting the blue to the blue pied to determine if its recessive or dominant pied.

A friend suggested I get a silver cock bird to pair with the cinnamon,a violet hen to pair with the grey chct cock bird and a grey pallid to pair with the turquoise. And then use their offspring in a couple of years to try for other mutations.

Can anyone give me some advice to think about as its my first year I'm not expecting super results but if I can at least set myself up for some success that would be great :D
