male crouching

I have my male and female IRN for almost 5 months now they r about 4 yrs old and the male been crouching and separating hes wings for over a month now idk why he does that, and once he does it the female start chasing him but at night they sleep beside each other. Yesterday the female went inside her nesting box and took some of the pine shaving out and she did it few time in the first day and the male goes inside the nesting box after she got out. Can u tell me what does all that mean??? Thanx
