Will the sexes of 2 IRNs affect them getting along?

Post by Kimma »

If you have 2 IRN, will their sexes affect how well they get along? Will 2 of the same sex be more likely to fight? If they are opposite and they like each other, how easy is it to stop them breeding?

Hi kimma,
My female is pretty young, so we haven't been through breeding season yet, but she seems to hate our male bird so far anyway.
From what I have heard, 2 males are more likely to be easy going pets.
Ellieelectrons has had quite a bit of practice at trying to discourage her pair from breeding:

My 2 male get along fine except when its starts getting dark and sleepy time the dominant one tends to try chase the other away so i have to step in every night but with that said they always end up sleeping right next to each other and i think this behaviour has only arrived due to breeding season
