Hi All
Last year i paired up a blue female with my lutino male and of the young i handraised i ended up with -
1/ lutino hen and
2/ Green cock's
These were checked with dna testing.
My question is this year, the same birds have paired again and i am currently raising 2 more green's - am i correct to assume that these are both cock's?
Cheers
Jono

Re: Gender question
Hi JonoH
Yes ,
The Cock babys will be Green/Ino/Blue (Green Bird)
The hen babys will be Ino/Blue (Lutino Bird)
If you get any other colour then the birds have other splits in them

Robert

I thought you could also get albino (white) from this pair?
Re: Gender question
Yep, you could if the Lutino is split for Blue- did he have a Blue series parent-? If yes, then he is definitely split Blue, if not then there is still a good chance of being split (for Blue) as a recessive gene can remain hidden until paired up with another copy of the same recessive gene.JonoH wrote:Cheers RobertMad Max wrote:Hi JonoH

Cheers Sheyd, still getting my head around all the Genetics stuff!
Not sure on the lutino heritage as he was a 'fly in' (lost bird given to us by someone whose house he flew into!
