Grass??

Post by pene.sampson »

I noticed today when I looked at my ringnecks that one of them was rather enjoying a blade of grass? Is this alright for them? It definitely hasn't been sprayed or anything it just grew up in the bottom of the aviary. She just went down the side of the aviary, plucked some grass and returned to the perch holding it in her foot and started eating it. I tried searching for other posts about eating grass but didn't find any.

so long as it is not treated, clean (washed) and not toxic to birds. Search for a list of toxic plants and grasses for birds and see. But it is probably fine, signs of toxidaty will be seen if the grass proves toxic. We pick grass from our yard and our 2 love it.

Most grasses are fine. I do not know of any that are not.
I give my Fids grasses when in seed all the time in season.
