My Lola has been with me 6 months still won't come near me. Every time I go near the cage to feed or clean her and happen to look at her she breathes in heavy and makes a funny noise not like a hiss. Is she scared I'm going to hurt her? Or did I scare her?

I like to at least once a day go up to have a good look at her just to see if she's ok.

You said it yourself, it's when you look at her that she reacts. Try not to look at her straight on facing her directly. A lot of prey animals view this as a predatory thing. Predators have eyes forward and look directly at their prey.

Do you talk or sing to her when you are doing things around her cage? That might help reassure her.
